  2. Hello Aliyah,
    The parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems are not two psychically separated nervous systems. These two nervous systems are actually stimulated by the ANS (autonomic nervous system) which in turn is stimulated by the PNS (peripheral nervous system) which is responsible for connecting the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) to body parts (such as organs, etc.) it's function is a control and regulation system used in different situations. For example, the Parasympathetic is more for calmer activities such as (eating, sexual arousal, digestions), while the sympathetic system is more for high alert activities (such as fight or flight response, etc.).

    In addition, i went ahead and added a table I found of the general function of the parasympathetic and sympathetic functions :)
